About Us

Inspired by a lifetime of inquiry, travel, and interaction with wellness and spiritual teachers, the Lokahi Institute and Lokahi Temple were founded in order to promote harmony, exploration, wisdom, and fun!

Tam Hunt is the primary founder and owner of Lokahi Temple. Lokahi Institute is a nascent collaboration between Tam and UC Santa Barbara and will eventually include a Hamakua Coast campus for advanced academic research into topics such as human consciousness, wellness, meditation, green building, and shamanism. Lokahi Temple LLC is a subsidiary partner of the Lokahi Institute LLC, both incorporated in Hawaii.

Lokahi Temple is also a 501(c)(8) non-profit church.

Lokahi Temple operates in the “gift economy” where all events organized by the Temple itself will be donation-based. We have been inspired by Charles Eisenstein’s writings on “sacred economics” and the gift economy. To “live in the gift” means that gifts are offered with no expectation of return.
